Carson Weifenglong Yang is a Toronto-based Chinese Canadian photographer currently pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at OCAD University. His practice spans multiple fields of photography, including portraiture, conceptual, and documentary work. Frequently wandering through the streets and alleys of the city, he captures the subtle interplays between the human and the natural, using a quiet and observant approach to sense the rhythms of everyday life.
Though he holds no formal religious affiliation, Carson draws inspiration from Eastern philosophical and spiritual traditions. His work explores the fundamental elements coursing through our lives: existence, perception, knowledge, the mind, values, reason, and language. These forces shape how we experience the world. His images aim not just to be seen, but to lead viewers into deeper contemplation—of both the world and the self.
In 2023, Carson was awarded 3rd place in the OCAD U Photography Contest.
